Austin FC II announced today the Club signed attacker Micah Burton to its MLS NEXT Pro roster. Burton, who turns 17 on March 26, is the second player from the Austin FC Academy to sign a professional contract with ATXFC II, along with Anthony De Anda.
“It’s a dream come true to sign my first professional contract, and especially do to so with the Austin FC organization,” said Burton. “I’ve grown a lot as a player and a person with the Austin FC Academy the last few years, and want to thank my family, teammates, coaches, and all the staff who have helped me along the way.”
Burton represented the U.S. U-17 Men's Youth National Team multiple times in 2022 and 2023, scoring five (5) total goals for the program. He scored three (3) times in six (6) matches at last month’s Concacaf U-17 Championship, helping the team qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Peru 2023. Burton also found the net in U-17 international friendlies against Uruguay and Portugal last year.
“We’re very happy for Micah and his family to have earned this opportunity at the professional level,” said Austin FC Interim Sporting Director Sean Rubio. “Since he joined our Academy, he has established himself as a player with clear potential, and we’re excited to continue to support his development moving forward.”
Burton was one of several players now on Austin FC II to join the Austin FC first team during its January preseason training camp in Florida.

Austin FC II will kick off its inaugural season in MLS NEXT Pro on Friday, March 24 with an 8:00 p.m. CT home match against Houston Dynamo 2 at Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center. Tickets for that match, and for all of the team’s 2023 home matches, are on sale now.
