Bobosi Byaruhanga Called Up to Ugandan Men's National Team

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) announced that Austin FC II midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga has been named to the Ugandan Men’s National Team roster for the team’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualification match against Niger on September 7.

Byaruhanga, 21, has made 15 previous international appearances for Uganda, including six (6) in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He played 45 minutes in Uganda’s most recent AFCON Qualification match against Algeria on June 18. He is the first Austin FC II player to have earned a senior international call-up, while 11 players on the roster have experience at the youth international level.

Byaruhanga has appeared in 20 contests for Austin FC II, with 14 starts in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season. He scored his first goal for the Verde & Black on April 23 against LA Galaxy II.
