In 2024, Green Business Certification Inc. announced Austin FC’s home venue Q2 Stadium as the first soccer-specific stadium and fifth sports venue in the world to earn Total Resource Use and Efficiency (TRUE) Gold certification. By earning this certification and by consistently diverting more than 90 percent of its waste, Q2 Stadium is now officially a zero-waste venue.

As the official Waste and Recycling Partner of Austin FC, Texas Disposal Systems help fans divert waste with more than 70 strategically placed Ecostations located throughout the stadium. These Ecostations allow Q2 Stadium to collect both compost and recycling, facilitating the club's commitment to Waste Diversion.

Fans are challenged to continue to divert waste every match and can follow the Waste Diversion Tracker during the season to keep up with their success in assisting Austin FC and Q2 Stadium in their commitment to Sustainability.  Waste diversion percentages represent the total amount of waste the stadium and its guests are able to divert from the landfill during each Austin FC match.  For the 2023 Season, 84% of all waste from Q2 Stadium matches was diverted.

In collaboration with YETI, water stations are available inside Q2 Stadium to allow fans to sustainably refresh and rehydrate.

To enhance fan comfort and reinforce Q2 Stadium and Austin FC’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, empty 30-ounce or smaller reusable drink vessels are allowed into the stadium.  Fans are encouraged to stay healthy and hydrated by visiting YETI water stations located in the Southeast, Northwest, or Southwest corners of the stadium.
