A pair of goals from Micah Burton and a penalty kick by Alonso Ramírez spurred Austin FC II to a crucial 3-1 home victory over in-state rivals Houston Dynamo 2 on Friday night under the lights at Parmer Field.

Burton got things going in the 5th minute, heading in a cross from Jimmy Farkarlun. The Verde & Black entered halftime up a goal and up a man when a Houston player was shown a red card shortly before the break.

Austin pushed forward and made its numerical advantage count in the second half. Burton drew a penalty which Ramírez converted on 57 minutes. Six minutes later, Burton scored his second of the night and fifth of the season on an assist from fellow Austin FC Academy product Ervin Torres.

Houston pulled a goal back late, but Austin still earned an important three points in the push for the final playoff positions in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference.
