Austin FC II earned a 2-1 victory over Minnesota United FC 2 on Wednesday night at Parmer Field, extending the team's winning streak to three matches.
The two teams traded goals in the opening minutes. CJ Fodrey continued his fine run of form with a header in the seventh minute, his fifth goal in the team's last four matches. Minnesota's Alisa Randell responded immediately though with an equalizer for the Loons.
Fodrey turned provider in the second half to restore the lead. The winger headed a cross back across goal to an open Sal Mazzaferro. The defender put away the chance for his first goal of the season which proved to be the match-winner.
The result takes ATXFC II to within one point of the playoff line in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference with six games remaining.
