MLS NEXT Pro announced today that Austin FC II goalkeeper Damian Las has been awarded MLS NEXT Pro Mid-Season Goalkeeper of the Year. This is Las’ second league award of the 2023 MLSNP season, as he was also awarded Goalkeeper of the Month for March/April.
Las currently leads MLS NEXT Pro with seven (7) clean sheets through the team’s first 16 matches of the 2023 MLSNP season. He has 39 saves to go with a 79.6 save percentage that ranks second-best among goalkeepers to appear in at least 12 matches. Las has played every minute for the Verde & Black as the team has allowed the fewest goals in the league (10) while also achieving the league’s lowest goals conceded average (0.63).
Las was also selected to participate in Goalie Wars at the 2023 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge pres. by AT&T 5G in Washington, D.C. He is one (1) of four (4) MLSNP goalkeepers to compete in the exhibition event, which will take place on July 18 at Audi Field.
