MLS NEXT Pro (MLSNP) announced today that Austin FC II goalkeeper Damian Las was voted the league’s Goalkeeper of the Month for August. The 21-year-old Las registered 16 saves and two (2) clean sheets in the team’s four (4) matches during August.
Las currently leads the league in clean sheets with 12 through team’s 24 matches. He is tied for fifth in saves (63) and has the lowest goals conceded average (0.67) of any goalkeeper in MLSNP to appear in at least five (5) matches. Las was awarded MLS NEXT Pro Mid-Season Goalkeeper of the Year and participated in “Goalie Wars” at the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge pres. by AT&T 5G on July 18 at Audi Field.
Las recorded six (6) saves on August against Earthquakes II, tied for his most in any match this season. In that match, he made a crucial penalty kick save to earn his third consecutive clean sheet. This is Las’ third Goalkeeper of the Month award (March/April, June) this season, most among any keeper in MLSNP.
The award is voted on by representatives at each club in MLS NEXT Pro.
