Austin FC II earned a point at home after a 1-1 draw against reigning league champions North Texas SC on Friday night.
Austin FC II led the first half in shots on goal, with one eventually finding the net in the 28th minute via the head of Peter Grogan, his second of the season. The Verde & Black shut down North Texas SC’s attempt to answer with a key save by Marcus Alstrup.
Despite more chances for the Verde & Black and a strong defensive effort, NTX’s Ian Charles scored late in the second half sending the game to penalties.
North Texas won the shootout 4-2 to take the extra point from the match.
