Austin FC Falls to Vancouver Whitecaps

Austin FC fell 5-1 against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday evening at BC Place.

Despite a couple of chances for Austin in the opening minutes, Vancouver took the lead in the 13th minute. Daniel Ríos miscontrolled a cross from the right, but was fortunate that the ball deflected to Brian White.

White opened the scoring from close range, then added another goal in the 38th minute to double the Whitecaps’ lead. On the other side of halftime, Vancouver put the result out of reach with a goal from Emmanuel Sabbi and a third goal from White.

Brad Stuver produced a penalty kick save on Daniel Ríos in the 72nd minute before White netted Vancouver’s fifth in the 83rd. Dani Pereira scored from outside the box in the 90th minute to put Austin on the board.
