Austin FC II Outlook

ATXFC II was named MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchday 4 after earning six points last week through a pair of shutout home victories. ATXFC II completed their three-game homestand with three wins in 10 days to remain unbeaten to start the 2023 MLSNP season.

The Verde & Black enter Matchday 5 tied for the fewest goals allowed (3) and tied for the most goals scored (10) in the Western Conference. First-team loanee Kipp Keller and Sal Mazzaferro played a significant role in the teams’ defense last week, as they each played the full 90 minutes in both matches without conceding a goal. Keller and Mazzaferro rank first and second in accurate passes (355 and 328) this season in MLSNP. Goalkeeper Damian Las is tied for the league lead in clean sheets (2) and has the lowest goals conceded average (0.6) of any goalkeeper that has appeared in at least four games.

On the attack, winger David Rodríguez has tallied one goal and one assist and is tied for second in the league with 10 key passes on the season. Valentin Noël notched his second brace of the season against North Texas SC, scoring two goals in the first 12 minutes of the match. Noël is now tied for the league lead in goals scored with four on the season.

LA Galaxy II Outlook

LA Galaxy II got their first win of the season on Sunday, defeating Whitecaps FC 2 by a scoreline of 4-3. Galaxy II jumped out to an early lead as Aaron Bibout found the net in the 2nd-minute of the match. Bilbout ended the match with a hat-trick and scored the game winning goal in the 88th-minute. Galaxy II has been effective with the ball this season, entering the match ranked third in total attacking assists (44) and fifth in accurate passing percentage (84.3).

Sunday’s match is the first of two contests for the two sides, as Galaxy II will make their way to Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center on July 30.
