Austin FC II fell in a 3-2 defeat away against Minnesota United FC 2 on Sunday afternoon.
Minnesota fielded several first team players in their starting eleven, and as such took an early lead through Tottenham Hotspur academy product Samuel Shashoua in the fourth minute. Anthony Garcia leveled the score prior to halftime though with a composed finish inside the box.
The Loons started the second half with two goals in seven minutes, and issues compounded for the Verde & Black when Diego Abarca was shown a red card in the 59th minute. Jimmy Farkarlun won and converted a penalty for Austin in the closing minutes but the comeback effort ultimately fell just short.
