In June 2021, Austin FC announced it would donate the proceeds from Major League Soccer’s Juneteenth jersey auction to local nonprofit organization African American Youth Harvest Foundation.
Ahead of Austin FC’s match against Inter Miami CF last Sunday, the Club donated $13,000 in proceeds from the jersey auction to the AAYHF in support of its mission to enhance quality of life for African American and low-income youth and families.
“We’re delighted to support the AAYHF, an organization which is a true leader in providing hands-on assistance to the African American community through impactful school and community-based programs,” said Austin FC VP of Community Impact Kaitlin Mauro. “We hope that this donation will help the AAYHF continue its fantastic work in Austin and Central Texas.”
Through the AAYHF’s programs, nearly 9,000 youth and adults have received services at its flagship African American Youth Resource Center in north Austin. The AAYHF has helped 49 juvenile offenders enroll in its mentoring program, and nearly 2,000 people have attended its conferences, where the organization focuses on supporting and strengthening family units while addressing preconceived notions of minority youth.
