On Monday, November 28, 4ATX Foundation and Austin FC Founding Partner Netspend teamed up to install Verde Nets at McCallum High School, benefitting the school’s girls’ soccer program.. As part of the organizations’ promise to turn Austin “#Verde” by donating nets across the city’s communities, 4ATX Foundation and Netspend volunteers helped players hang the brand-new soccer nets in the goals at the McCallum High School field.
“Often times when we talk about making soccer more accessible to everyone, we overlook a basic detail: access to basic equipment,” said 4ATX Foundation Executive Director Kaitlin Mauro. “By delivering and installing Verde nets around Austin, we hope young soccer players will be inspired to play the game and enjoy the physical, mental, and social benefits that come with it.”
The Verde nets donation came just in time for McCallum’s first day of tryouts ahead of the upcoming high school season. 4ATX Foundation began the Verde Nets program in 2020, and with the help of Netspend, the organizations have donated over 75 Verde Nets to fields around Austin since then.
"Netspend is thrilled to have delivered new Verde soccer nets to McCallum High School in Austin as part of our commitment to supporting our community in partnership with the Austin FC and 4ATX Foundation," said Netspend President Kelley C. Knutson. "All students deserve access to safe spaces to play sports and connect, and we look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the community by supporting our youth through the Verde Nets program."
