Austin FC and its nonprofit arm 4ATX Foundation today published their 2022 Annual Report, detailing the foundation’s work throughout last year. In 2022 alone, 4ATX Foundation served nearly 320,000 Central Texans across 77 zip codes, delivered over 23,000 hours of programming, and invested more than $884,000 in the community.
“Central Texas is our home, and we take seriously our commitment to investing time, energy, and financial resources towards the people and places within our community that need it most,” said 4ATX Foundation Executive Director Kaitlin Mauro. “On behalf of everyone at 4ATX, we’re very thankful to all of our partners and volunteers for their time and energy over the past twelve months and look forward to more great things ahead in 2023.”
To help make the sport of soccer more accessible throughout Central Texas, 4ATX Foundation installed three (3) state-of-the-art mini-pitches throughout the region in 2022, bringing the total of mini-pitches it has helped install to six (6) since 2020. One such mini pitch was installed at Jardín de los Heroes Park in Uvalde, in an effort to provide a new place for the community to gather in the wake of tragedy. The foundation also teamed up with Swish Dental to sponsor fall soccer camp registration fees for 725 young soccer players in Uvalde, ensuring players could participate in the camps cost-free.
In addition, 4ATX Foundation launched six (6) new initiatives including a pre-match interview series featuring Verde Leaders students and Austin FC Head Coach Josh Wolff, an Academy volunteer program, Retas FC, and the Q2 Verde Youth Leadership Academy. 4ATX Foundation also proudly hired its first Verde Leaders program alumni to the Austin FC front office in 2022 as fellows.
The foundation’s returning programs built upon prior success as well. The Verde Leaders Program, a positive youth development program that combines soccer with Social-Emotional Learning, Restorative Practices and Mindfulness to help underserved youth find personal and academic success, continues to help students year-round.
Per the program’s year-end survey of students, 91 percent reported they learned to manage their emotions in a healthy way, 92 percent felt more capable of achieving their goals, and 95 percent felt more hopeful about their future. In addition, the foundation hired 21 Verde Leaders alumni as program coaches and donated 134 Verde nets to local soccer programs.
4ATX Foundation’s annual “A Night in Verde” gala at Q2 Stadium also returned for its second consecutive year, raising $951,000 in one evening last October in support of the Foundation’s programs and mission.
