As part of a shared mission to provide opportunities for underserved schools and Central Texas youth, Austin FC’s nonprofit arm 4ATX Foundation and the Club’s founding partner St. David’s HealthCare will provide free soccer clinics to students ages 7-11. Children will have the chance to learn from a professional soccer coach, meet Austin FC players, and leave with their very own soccer ball. This will be the program’s third year providing clinics.
“One of our goals has always been to make sure everyone in our community has access to soccer, regardless of their financial situation,” said 4ATX Foundation Executive Director Kaitlin Mauro. “These clinics are a fantastic way to provide students in Central Texas with a fun and free chance to enjoy the game, and we’re grateful to our partners at St. David’s HealthCare for making them possible.”
As part of the organizations’ efforts to build relationships with local organizations in need of programming services, 4ATX will provide seven free clinics throughout the 2023 Austin FC season, serving over 900 local youth. This year, 4ATX Foundation and St. David's HealthCare will collaborate with local nonprofits, such as Creative Action, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and SAFE Alliance, to ensure underserved youth have the opportunity to attend the clinics and get access to the game of soccer.
The first clinic will kick off on March 30 at Catherine A. Cook Elementary School, followed by clinics held at St. David’s Performance Center on April 4, April 19, and May 1. Fall dates for the 5th, 6th, and 7th clinic dates will be announced in the near term.
“St. David’s HealthCare is proud to collaborate with Austin FC on programs that improve the health and wellness of the Central Texas community,” Denise Bradley, Vice President of Communications and Community Affairs at St. David’s HealthCare, said. “Providing school-aged children the opportunity to meet and learn from professional athletes is a wonderful way to encourage physical fitness, teamwork and leadership. Since 2019, we have worked with 4ATX to provide free soccer clinics to over 1,600 kids from 70 different zip codes across Central Texas.“
Public registration for the clinics is now open. If you are interested registering, please complete 4ATX Foundation’s registration form below.
