After the culmination of last season at July’s MLS NEXT Cup, the Austin FC Academy took a brief offseason before recently returning to training at St. David’s Performance Center. A trip to the Netherlands to visit Club partner PSV Eindhoven highlighted the preseason in August, and teams began MLS NEXT play this month.
September Results
Austin FC’s four Academy teams competing in MLS NEXT all got off to good starts, with a combined record of 6-1-1 during September. The U-13 team boasts a perfect record through three matches, while the U-14s and U-17s both remain unbeaten and neither has yet conceded a goal.

Player of the Month
Ervin Torres, U-17 Midfielder
Torres enjoyed a strong start to the season after spending a week in August with the United States U-16 Men’s Youth National Team at the program’s training camp in California, his third involvement with a USMYNT program in 2022.
Off the field, Torres continues to impress as well, participating in 4ATX Foundation’s Verde Leaders program to mentor younger soccer players and raising his GPA.
“In addition to being a promising young soccer player, Ervin consistently shows excellent manners and behavior as well as an increased desire to succeed academically,” said Austin FC Academy General Manager Tyson Wahl. “We look forward to watching Ervin continue growing and learning throughout this season.”
