Austin FC Academy player Ervin Torres has been invited to the upcoming U-16 Mexican Men’s Youth National Team training camp. The call-up is Torres’ fourth to a youth national team in 2022, following three (3) prior call-ups to the U.S. U-16 and U-15 Men’s Youth National Teams.
“Ervin continues to show an excellent attitude and skill set each day with our Academy, and we’d like to congratulate him on receiving this invite to the U-16 Mexican Men’s National Team training camp,” said Austin FC Academy General Manager Tyson Wahl. “We know he will represent our Academy well and he has a bright future ahead.”
At the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs in July, Torres registered multiple impressive performances for the Austin FC U-15 team, including scoring a goal in the Round of 16 against Los Angeles FC. Torres is 1 of 6 players from the Austin FC organization to earn a youth national team call-up in 2022, alongside Owen Wolff (U.S. U-19), Bryan Arellano (U.S. U-19), Anthony Gonzalez (U.S. U-19), Micah Burton (U.S. U-17), and Abner Zuniga (U.S. U-15).
