Make that another milestone in the historic career of Matt Besler.
Austin FC defender Matt Besler featured in his 300th MLS regular season match on Sunday, May 30 vs. Seattle Sounders FC.
Besler, 34, is one of seven active players in MLS to reach 300 MLS appearances. The other six active members of the MLS 300 club are Drew Moor (392, COL), Dax McCarty (388, NSH), Chris Wondolowski (387, SJ), Shea Salinas (342, SJ), Jordan Harvey (340, COL), Osvaldo Alonso (319, MIN).
Besler is the 44th player in MLS history to notch 300 appearances. Kyle Beckerman is the all-time leader in MLS appearances with 498 matches played.
Besler, who joined Austin FC after 12 seasons with Sporting KC (2009-20), is a five-time MLS All-Star and two-time MLS Best XI selection. He was named MLS Defender of the Year in 2012 before winning MLS Cup in 2013.
His appearance in Sunday’s match marks his sixth for Austin FC this season.
