Austin FC, along with FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash will honor the victims of Tuesday’s mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas by wearing a remembrance patch during their weekend matches. Austin FC will don the patch on Sunday, May 29 when the Club visits the LA Galaxy. FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo FC will do so in their respective May 28 matches against Orlando City SC and Real Salt Lake, while the Houston Dash will wear the patch in the team’s NWSL match against the North Carolina Courage. The opponents of each team will also wear the patch.
All four (4) teams will donate to the Robb Elementary School Memorial Fund. Additionally, for the month of June, the Robb Elementary School Fund will be the beneficiary of Austin FC’s Verde Store roundup program. “Uvalde holds a special place in the heart of our Club and our ownership group,” said Austin FC President Andy Loughnane. “While soccer feels small in the wake of this tragedy, we hope that by coming together with some of our fellow Texas clubs in FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo FC and the Houston Dash, we can honor the victims and offer some much-needed support to the community.”
Austin FC has built a webpage where fans can go to donate to the Robb Elementary School Memorial Fund. The page will be updated as the Club’s future plans of support are developed.
PATCH DESIGN
All three MLS clubs will wear the patch centered on the front of their jerseys. The patch is maroon which is Robb Elementary School’s official color. A black ribbon featuring 78801 represents the zip code where the school is located.
