On Saturday, May 14, Austin FC and the Club’s founding partner Netspend teamed up in support of “Fútbol Rápido” clinics at Navarro Early College High School. The free clinics, organized by local nonprofit Austin Voices, invited over 200 students from 12 different elementary and middle schools which feed into Navarro High School.
Volunteers from both Netspend and Austin FC were on hand to support the clinics, where players from the Navarro soccer program led younger students through drills and games. Students received Austin FC and Netspend branded sweatbands and won Austin FC gear through a giveaway.
The clinics started with a Verde Nets donation from Netspend and Austin FC’s nonprofit arm 4ATX Foundation, the second such donation in 2022 as part of the organizations’ promise to turn Austin “Verde” by donating soccer nets across the city’s communities. Netspend also donated soccer balls to the Navarro High School Athletic Department to share with clinic attendees.
“The Fútbol Rápido clinic was a fantastic event which helped many young players in our community get active and connect through soccer,” said 4ATX Foundation Executive Director Kaitlin Mauro. “We’d like to thank Netspend for its donations, and the volunteers from all the organizations involved who made this clinic special for the students.”
“Netspend is proud to be a co-sponsor with Austin FC and 4ATX Foundation at the Verde Nets equipment donation and soccer clinic at Navarro Early College High School. Our team members always enjoy giving back to our community and spending time with our youth," said Netspend President Kelley C. Knutson. “I’m hopeful that the donations and clinic will inspire both students and families in our community to spend more time connecting, staying active and enjoying recreational events.”
4ATX Foundation began the Verde Nets program in 2020, and with the help of Netspend in 2021, the organizations have donated over 70 Verde Nets to fields around Austin. As part of the 4ATX Foundation’s field restoration work, 4ATX Foundation has also helped install four (4) mini-pitches in the greater Austin area since 2019, including one (1) at Bastrop Middle School in April 2022.
