Austin FC announced today that the Club reached an agreement with SJK Seinäjoki for the transfer of midfielder Eze Onuoha. Onuoha signed a deal guaranteed through the end of the 2029-30 season with an option for 2030-31. He will officially join the Verde & Black ahead of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season after his 18th birthday in December.
“Eze is a young prospect with potential, and we are excited to welcome him to Austin FC. Despite his age, he has already shown qualities that we value in our players, including technical ability, ambition, and a strong desire to continue improving,” said Austin FC Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Khaled El-Ahmad. “We believe Austin is a great environment for young players to develop, and we look forward to supporting Eze as he continues his growth and adapts to the next stage of his career.”
Onuoha joined SJK in August 2025 from FC Honka, and after impressing with SJK’s second team, earned his first team debut in the Finnish topflight on May 30. He scored on his debut and went on to tally four goals and an assist across 22 games for SJK in all competitions. At the youth international level, Onuoha has made nine total appearances including four this year for the Finland U-18 national team.
“For me as a young player, Austin FC represents a new challenge in a new country,” said Onuoha. “This opportunity to be a part of a club and a city as unique as Austin really excites me and I feel it’s the perfect next step.”
Onuoha will occupy a U22 Initiative slot on the Austin FC roster, meaning his salary will count against the Club’s salary budget cap at a reduced rate. He will also occupy Senior and International roster designations. Onuoha holds both Finnish and Nigerian citizenship.
