On Friday, December 2, Austin FC and Club partner Texas Disposal Systems teamed up to host a community clean-up today. Volunteers from both organizations worked with Keep Austin Beautiful to pick up litter, debris, and branches at Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park, as part of their commitment to promoting vibrancy through sustainability in Austin.

In addition to clearing up waste from the park, Texas Disposal Systems provided 30 cubic yards of Garden-Ville Elite Lawn compost to lay down to enrich the surrounding area. This compost has been created from diverted organic materials from TDS landfills, and turning it into premium quality composts. A portion of this compost includes waste that fans diverted at Q2 Stadium during Austin FC matches throughout the 2022 season.

Austin FC and TDS share a strong commitment to sustainability. With support from the Club and fans, TDS has diverted more than 70 percent of waste created at this past season’s matches,” said Leticia Mendoza, Director of Marketing and Communications for Texas Disposal Systems. “Turning that waste into compost and using it to enhance a local park in Austin is just one tangible symbol of the overall impact TDS and Austin FC are making through our partnership.”

As the official Waste and Recycling Partner of Austin FC, TDS manages Q2 Stadium’s recycling, composting and disposal. On Austin FC matchdays, TDS educates fans and staff and facilitates waste diversion efforts with more than 70 strategically-placed Eco-Stations located throughout the stadium.
