Austin FC announced on Wednesday the Club’s new pre-match show presented by ABC Home & Commercial Services, which will air in the 30-minute window prior to each of the Verde & Black’s regionally televised Major League Soccer (MLS) matches during the 2022 regular season. Each show will air live on either KNVA (The CW Austin) or KBVO (MyNetwork TV) while also simulcasting on AustinFC.com and the Austin FC app.
“It’s going to be a party,” said Austin FC Executive Director of Broadcast and Content, Adrian Healey. “Having a 30-minute pre-match show gives us even more time to show off the incredible matchday atmosphere at Q2 Stadium. It’s also an opportunity to give fans a behind the scenes look, as well as to welcome in guests from throughout the Club and community. We are grateful to ABC Home & Commercial Services for helping make this new programming initiative possible and delivering additional content for Austin FC fans.”
The show’s on-air talent is made up of returning personalities from Austin FC’s inaugural 2021 season. Adrian Healey, Michael Lahoud, Roger Valdivieso, and Sonny Guadarrama will all feature on the show, covering storylines on and off the pitch as well as match day experiences and offerings at Q2 Stadium, interviews with guests, and more.
With more content now available than ever before, Austin FC has also announced the hiring of Laszlo Szele to lead broadcast production efforts for the 2022 season. Szele brings over 20 years of experience as a producer in both live and remote settings and was a 2015 Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Live Production for his work with the 2015 Concacaf Gold Cup. He has helped produce MLS matches both regionally and nationally since 2008, working with Toronto FC, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Chicago Fire FC, and Orlando City SC in that span.
Szele produced the 2016 Copa América Centenario host broadcast and has worked as a Concacaf host broadcast producer since 2014 on tournaments such as the Concacaf Champions League, Concacaf Nations League, and Concacaf Men’s and Women’s Olympic Qualifying.
“In my 20-plus years of live producing some of the biggest matches on the continent, nothing has inspired me like joining the Austin FC family,” said Szele. “It’s a genuine honor to join such an experienced broadcast team, a Club with an unparalleled vision for success, and a city that is already the envy of the league.”
