4ATX Foundation has announced Austin FC goalkeeper Brad Stuver and Central Texas Food Bank President and CEO Derrick Chubbs as the recipients of the 2021 Legend of the Year awards, presented by Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages.
The new annual awards, recognizing contributions to building physically, socially, and emotionally healthier communities in Central Texas, will be presented to Stuver and Chubbs on Thursday, October 28 at 4ATX Foundation’s “A Night in Verde Gala” Presented by St. David’s Healthcare.
“Brad Stuver and Derrick Chubbs are fantastic representatives of both our Club and our community,” said 4ATX Foundation Executive Director Kaitlin Swarts. “The work they do to make Austin a better place to live, work and play is tremendous and it’s our privilege to be able to be able to recognize them in this way.”
In his first season with ATXFC, Stuver has not only stood out for his performances on the pitch, but also for his commitment to serving the Austin community. In addition to several other causes, Stuver is heavily involved with The Laundry Project, an organization that helps lower-income families meet their needs of washing clothes and linens by paying for and providing the service. He also penned a letter of appreciation to Austin FC supporters titled “Keep Fighting” on September 22.
Chubbs joined the Central Texas Food Bank in 2016. As the largest hunger relief agency in the region, the organization consists of a network of more than 250 non-profit agencies and supports 20 distribution programs. Under Chubbs’ leadership, the Food Bank provides millions of pounds of food and grocery items to those in need across a 21-county service area in Central Texas.
“I’m so honored to be named a 4ATX Foundation Legend of the Year,” said Chubbs. “In recognizing me, you also honor our dedicated Food Bank team, our volunteers, our network partners, and our generous donors, without whom the past few years would have been even more difficult for thousands of Central Texans.”
Each year, 4ATX Foundation will award two (2) Legend of the Year awards, one (1) to an Austin FC player and one (1) to a Central Texas community leader for their outstanding leadership and service.
