Nick Lima’s 51st-minute equalizer helped Austin FC earn a 1-1 draw against Inter Miami CF at DRV PNK Stadium on Saturday night. The result keeps Austin FC unbeaten for a third consecutive match.
Julio Cascante nearly opened the scoring for the Verde & Black in the 15th minute. Dani Pereira played a cross to Cascante at the far post, and the Costa Rican’s header from the touchline bounced off the post. Goalkeeper Brad Stuver made a crucial kick-save to keep the match level just before halftime, denying Josef MartÃnez in a one-on-one situation.
Miami took the lead in the 47th minute as Benjamin Cremaschi found MartÃnez in the box, who placed his shot in the corner. But Austin found an immediate response, scoring the equalizer four (4) minutes later as Nick Lima scored his first goal of the season. Lima collected a deflected shot at the edge of the area, took a touch to control, and fired an accurate low strike past Miami goalkeeper Drake Callender.
Both teams had a handful of additional chances as the match wore on, but neither was able to find the decisive goal, and they shared the points on the night.
