The MLS Players Association (MLSPA) today released the results of its 2022 Player Voices Poll, with Austin FC and its coach, players, and home venue Q2 Stadium honored in several categories.
Q2 Stadium ranked first in response to the questions posed to MLS players, “What is your favorite MLS stadium to play in?” and “Which MLS stadium has the best pitch?” Austin FC Head Coach Josh Wolff ranked first in response to the question, "Which MLS coach would you most like to play for?" and Austin FC goalkeeper Brad Stuver ranked first in response to the question, “Which MLS player is the most impactful in supporting their community?” for the second-consecutive year.
Austin FC ranked second in response to the question, “If you could play for any MLS club, which club would it be?” Austin FC midfielder Diego Fagundez was voted as the league’s second-most underrated player, and Designated Player Sebastián Driussi received the second-most votes in response to the question, “Who would you give league MVP to?”
Austin FC sold out all 17 of its MLS regular season home matches in 2022 and both of its Audi MLS Cup Playoff matches at Q2 Stadium, extending its sellout streak to 36 matches with an average attendance of 20,738. That streak is the longest active sellout streak in MLS.
Austin FC had a historic 2022 season, finishing in second place in the MLS Western Conference and tying the league record for the largest points improvement by a second-year expansion team (+25). Austin also became only the third MLS team to advance through its first two rounds of postseason play in club history, defeating Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas to reach the Western Conference Final.
