U.S. Soccer announced today that Austin FC midfielder Owen Wolff has been named to the U-19 United States Men’s Youth National Team (MYNT) roster for the Slovenia Nations Cup. The call-up is Wolff’s second to the U-19 U.S. MYNT, following his participation in the program’s training camp and friendlies against England and Norway in Marbella, Spain last June.
During the Slovenia Nations Cup, the U-19 U.S. MYNT will play Malta on September 21, Croatia on September 23 and Scotland on September 27.
“Owen has become a regular and strong contributor to our first team this season, which is a testament to his maturity and work ethic,” said Austin FC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna. “We’re very happy for him to have this opportunity to represent his country, and he has a bright future ahead of him.”
Wolff, 17, became Austin FC’s first Homegrown signing in September 2021, and was the first Homegrown player to appear in a match for the Verde & Black in the team’s 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on November 3, 2021. On May 18, 2022, Wolff earned his first career start against Los Angeles FC, and recorded his first professional assist 11 days later.
Across 22 MLS regular season appearances for Austin FC in 2022, including 10 starts, Wolff has passed at an 86.1 percent success rate, registered 13 key passes and nine (9) successful tackles.
Wolff is one (1) of six (6) Austin FC player called to a U.S. youth national team this year, joining Bryan Arellano (U-19), Anthony Gonzalez (U-19), Micah Burton (U-17), Ervin Torres (U-16, U-15), and Abner Zuniga (U-15).
