To Austin.
I’m writing today to let you know my career as a professional soccer player has come to an end. Although my time in Austin was short, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude. I truly enjoyed the experience of wearing the Verde and Black and representing this organization to the best of my ability.
To the entire Austin community, thank you for welcoming my family and I to Austin. We felt a part of this city from the moment we arrived and made memories we will carry with us forever (special shout-out to Lazy River).
Over the next few weeks, I look forward to saying thank you to countless individuals, including Club ownership, coaches, support staff and teammates. But before I go, I want to take a quick moment to recognize and thank Claudio Reyna, Josh Wolff, and Davy Arnaud for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this organization. Starting a Club from scratch has it challenges, but I’m confident the foundation has been laid for future success.
To the fans, it was a pleasure representing you on the field this season. The passion, loyalty and support you showed us was remarkable. You should be proud of the high bar you set. You announced yourselves to the soccer world with the same boldness and character that makes Austin special.
I wish you all the best in the future… I know it will be bright.
Hasta la muerte.
Sincerely,
Matt
