Austin FC midfielder and Designated Player Sebastián Driussi has been named the Major League Soccer (MLS) Player of the Month for July, the second time this season he has earned Player of the Month honors. Driussi was also voted to the MLS All-Star Game last month, and selected to participate in the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge, both of which will take place next week in Minnesota.
“Sebastián continues to perform at a high level for Austin FC and we’re very proud of him for earning his second Player of the Month award this season,” said Austin FC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna. “He has been a great addition to our locker room and we look forward to seeing him represent Austin at the MLS All-Star festivities next week.”
A candidate for the MLS Most Valuable Player award this season, Driussi leads MLS in goals (14) and goal contributions (21). He contributed to a goal in each of Austin FC’s six (6) matches in July, tallying five (5) goals and three (3) assists in that span.
Driussi has been named to the MLS Team of the Week a team-high nine (9) times this season, and Austin FC’s scoring output has more than doubled since his debut last August, rising from 0.81 goals-per-match to 1.68.
