Austin FC and H-E-B announced on Tuesday that Austin-based urban forestry nonprofit TreeFolks will be the organizations’ Community Kickback partner for the 2022 season. For every Austin FC goal scored in 2022, Austin FC and H-E-B will donate $100 to TreeFolks in support of their mission to empower Central Texans to build stronger communities through planting and caring for trees.
“One of the things that makes Austin such a special city to live in is its many green spaces, and it is our responsibility to help protect them,” said Austin FC President Andy Loughnane. “With that commitment in mind, we’re thrilled to make TreeFolks the official Austin FC and H-E-B Community Kickback nonprofit partner for the 2022 season.”
“Our partnership with Austin FC is a natural fit,” said TreeFolks Executive Director Andrew Smiley. “We share a commitment to sustainability and equity, and even the Austin FC logo, representing club and city working together, recognizes the importance of trees in our community. Austin FC is making great things happen here, and is definitely helping to ‘Keep Austin Rooted.’"
Founded in 1988 and officially incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit in 1989, TreeFolks has grown to work with communities throughout Central Texas in community tree planting, street tree and backyard tree giveaways, education, and urban-wildland reforestation efforts. H-E-B has partnered with TreeFolks in the past as part of its commitment to sustainability and preserving Texas’ land, air, and water for future generations. Since 2012, H-E-B has contributed nearly $300,000 to support TreeFolks and donated over 125,000 trees across Central Texas through reforestation projects and tree adoption events at select H-E-B store locations.
"At H-E-B, we are committed to environmental sustainability and feel it’s our responsibility to take good care of the state we proudly call home,” said Felicia Peña, Public Affairs Manager for H-E-B Central Texas Region. “It’s an honor to join Austin FC in supporting organizations like TreeFolks, working together to build a vibrant urban forest for future generations of Texans to enjoy.”
