Austin FC midfielder and Designated Player Sebastián Driussi and Austin FC Head Coach Josh Wolff earned Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Week honors for Week 2 of the regular season, with midfielder Ethan Finlay named to the Team of the Week bench as the Verde & Black beat Inter Miami CF 5-1. It was the second consecutive match in which Austin FC scored five (5) goals and won at home to start the 2022 season.
Driussi registered two (2) goals, opening the scoring with a clever midair finish on 22 minutes and doubling his tally in the 51st minute with an outside-of-the-boot flick. The Argentine also co-assisted Finlay’s first goal for Austin FC, a header which made the scoreline 4-1 in the 64th minute. Finlay then rounded off a dominant ATXFC attacking display with a right-footed rocket in the 90th minute. The pair of braces were the fifth and sixth multi-goal performances by an Austin FC player in the Club’s history.
Wolff’s side remains atop the MLS standings for a second consecutive week with six (6) points from a possible six (6) and a +9 goal difference. Austin FC’s 10 goals scored are the most by any team in MLS history through its opening two (2) matches.
