The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) announced that Austin FC II midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga has been named to the Ugandan Men’s National Team roster for the team’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches vs. South Sudan on October 11 and 15.
The first match will take place at Mandela National Stadium in Uganda, and the second at Juba Stadium in South Sudan. Uganda currently leads its AFCON qualifying group with four (4) points from two (2) matches. The top two (2) teams in each group will qualify directly for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Byaruhanga, 22, has made 20 previous international appearances for Uganda, including 10 in previous FIFA World Cup qualifiers. With Austin FC II, Byaruhanga has appeared in 50 contests (41 starts) across the 2023 and 2024 MLS NEXT Pro seasons, recording four (4) goals and three (3) assists.
