Austin FC Announces Additions to Coaching Staff Ahead of 2025 Season

Austin FC announced on Monday three (3) additions to Head Coach Nico Estévez’s coaching staff ahead of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.

Alberto “Beto” González has joined the Club as an Assistant Coach, Francisco “Curro” Galán as Goalkeeper Coach, and Albert Ballesteros as Field Analyst Coach. Assistant Coach Davy Arnaud, who joined Austin FC ahead of the team’s inaugural season in 2021, remains with Austin FC in the same role.

González joins Austin FC from the United Arab Emirates Football Association where he was State Centers of Excellence Technical Director & Youth National Team Head Coach. The Valencia, Spain native has previously held roles as an academy coach for Valencia CF, second team head coach and first team fitness coach for Al Jazira Club, technical director for Al Ain FC, and U-17 head coach for Al Nasr SC.

Galán most recently worked for Al-Raed S.FC of the Saudi Professional League, where he spent the 2023/2024 season. Prior to his time with Al-Raed, Galán was Goalkeeper Coach for FC Shakhtar Donetsk, where he coached current Ukrainian National Team and Benfica starting goalkeeper Anatolii Trubin. The team won the Ukrainian Premier League in 2023 and reached the UEFA Europa League knockout rounds with Galán as a member of the coaching staff.

Ballesteros was a first team assistant coach for FC Juárez of Liga MX in 2023 and 2024. Prior to his time with Juárez, he held roles as first team analyst, U-21 head coach, and U-15 head coach with LD Alajuelense in Costa Rica between 2021 and 2023. His experience includes time in Spain, Japan, Qatar, and India, and also as an analyst for Liverpool FC midfielder Thiago Alcântara.

González, Galán, and Ballesteros will begin their roles in January 2025.
