U.S. Soccer announced that Austin FC II midfielder Micah Burton has been called up to the U.S. U-17 Men’s Youth National Team (MYNT) for two (2) international events in the Czech Republic and Brazil, in preparation for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia this November and December.
Burton represented the U.S. U-17 MYNT at the Concacaf U-17 Championship in February 2023, appearing in six (6) matches including the tournament final against Mexico. He recorded three (3) goals, scoring against Trinidad & Tobago, Dominican Republic, and Canada in the semifinal. Burton has made nine (9) total appearances for the U.S. U-17 MYNT, scoring five (5) goals in 494 minutes.
The U.S. U-17 MYNT will face Ukraine (September 6), Switzerland (September 8), and Czech Republic (September 10) in the Vaclav Jezek Tournament in the Czech Republic. They will then play two international friendly matches against Brazil on October 4 and October 6 in Brazil.
Burton is 1 of 5 current or former Austin FC Academy players to earn a youth national team call-up so far in 2023, alongside Owen Wolff (U.S. U-20), Ervin Torres (U.S. U-16), Gavin Wolff (U.S. U-15), and Viggo Ortiz (FMF U-15).
