Austin FC II announced today the team signed midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga and defender Rubén Bonachera to its MLS NEXT Pro roster.
Byaruhanga, who was part of the Austin FC II squad that won the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro title, returns to the team on a one-year loan agreement from MFK Vyskov with an option to extend the loan through the end of the 2025 season.
Bonachera arrives via transfer from Wisła Kraków II, and joins ATXFC II on a two-year guaranteed contract with additional options for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
Bobosi Byaruhanga
Byaruhanga appeared in 26 contests (including all four playoff matches) for Austin FC II during the team’s title-winning campaign in 2023, contributing one (1) goal and three (3) assists. The 22-year-old midfielder was the first Austin FC II player earned a senior international call-up while with the team, and has made 18 total appearances for the Ugandan senior men’s national team, including six (6) in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Byaruhanga, 22, began his professional career with Vipers SC in his native Uganda, winning the FUFA Male Player of the Year award – recognizing the country’s top men’s player – in 2021 before moving to Czech club MFK Vyskov in August 2022.
Rubén Bonachera
Bonachera, 20, is originally from Terrassa, Spain and plays primarily as a left back. He began his career in the Cornellà youth system and moved to the academy of La Liga side Villarreal CF in 2019.
Bonachera made four (4) appearances for Villarreal’s U-19 side in the UEFA Youth League, and also competed for one (1) of the club’s senior reserve sides before joining Wisła Kraków in Poland in 2023.
