Austin FC II announced today the team signed Alonso Ramírez to its MLS NEXT Pro roster. Ramírez joins ATXFC II on loan from Atlas FC of Liga MX.
“I’m excited to join Austin FC II and ready for the season ahead,” said Ramírez. “I’m thankful to the Club and coaching staff for the opportunity.”
Ramírez, a 21-year-old from Chiautempan, Mexico, first joined the Atlas FC youth system in 2016. He went on to make 38 appearances for the Atlas U-20 team in Liga MX Sub-20 competition. Ramírez featured for the Atlas senior team in the team’s international friendly match at Q2 Stadium against Austin FC last February.
In fall 2022, Ramírez joined Mazorqueros FC of Mexico’s Liga Premier on loan, making nine (9) appearances and scoring one (1) goal.
“Alonso is a versatile young player capable of playing as a defensive midfielder or in central defense,” said Austin FC Interim Sporting Director Sean Rubio. “We hope to help foster his potential within the Austin FC II environment.”
