Austin FC II announced today the Club signed goalkeepers Nicolas Aristizabal and Greg Monroe to its MLS NEXT Pro (MLSNP) roster. The pair signed amateur agreements through the end of the 2023 MLSNP season.
Aristizabal recently began his third season with the Austin FC Academy. He was a member of the Austin FC U-15 team that won the 2023 Generation adidas Cup, playing a key role in the team’s success. In the semifinal against Belgian side KRC Genk, the 15-year-old stopped two (2) penalty kicks after the match proceeded to a shootout. In the final, Aristizabal saved Philadelphia’s seventh attempt to secure Austin’s fourth shootout victory of the tournament and win the trophy for the Verde & Black.
Monroe joins ATXFC II after attending Siena College from 2018 to 2022. He became the first Siena Saint to win the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2022. Monroe left Siena as one of its most decorated players, serving as the program’s all-time leader in wins, shutouts, goalkeeper minutes, and matches played.
Aristizabal’s amateur agreement signing allows him to train and compete for Austin FC II while maintaining collegiate and academy eligibility.
