Austin FC II announced today the Club signed winger Jimmy Farkarlun and defender Antonio Gomez to its MLS NEXT Pro roster. Both players spent the 2024 preseason training and playing with Austin FC.
Farkarlun, whom Austin FC selected with the 31st overall pick of the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, joins on a contract for three (3) guaranteed years, followed by two (2) additional option years in 2027 and 2028. Gomez signs a contract for two (2) guaranteed years with two (2) additional option years in 2026 and 2027.
Jimmy Farkarlun
Bryant Farkarlun, who goes by Jimmy, is originally from Monrovia, Liberia. The 22-year-old winger recorded two (2) goals and one (1) assist across Austin FC’s preseason matches against LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls.
Farkarlun began his collegiate career at Houston Christian University in 2020, where he recorded 17 goals and eight (8) assists across 47 matches. In his final year at HCU, he scored nine (9) goals, three (3) of which were match-winners. He then transferred to University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and was an All-WAC First Team selection as he contributed five (5) goals in 12 appearances during his only season with the Vaqueros.
Antonio Gomez
Gomez played collegiate soccer at California Baptist University from 2020 to 2023, making 71 appearances for the Lancers. The 6’2” native of Las Vegas, Nevada earned WAC All-Freshman honors in 2021, Second Team All-WAC honors in 2022, and made the WAC All-Tournament team in 2023 as CBU won the conference title.
Gomez led CBU in minutes played in three (3) consecutive seasons from 2021 to 2023.
