Austin FC II will be back under the Friday night lights at Parmer Field this weekend, when the Verde & Black host in-state rivals Houston Dynamo 2. The match is set for an 8:00 p.m. CT kickoff and is available to watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Austin FC II Outlook
Against a MNUFC2 team which fielded several first team players, Austin FC II suffered a narrow 3-2 away defeat last Sunday afternoon. Despite that result though, the Verde & Black are currently only two points below the playoff line, and the team that sits on that line just happens to be their opponents on Friday night.
A victory against Dynamo 2, coupled with dropped points by Portland and Kansas City, would see Austin finish this match week in the eighth and final playoff position in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference.
Head Coach Brett Uttley’s team will hope to continue its strong run of form at home. In its last five matches at Parmer Field, ATXFC II is unbeaten and has collected 13 of a possible 15 points.
Houston Dynamo 2 Outlook
Houston’s trip to Austin will be its first away game in nearly a month. Dynamo 2 nabbed seven points from a three-match homestand but have only amassed 12 points from 12 road games in 2024, the third-fewest in the MLSNP Western Conference.
Diego Gonzalez has been a key player for Houston this campaign, with four goals and a team-high nine assists. Gabriel Segal tops the scoring charts with nine goals.
Dynamo 2’s attack overall ranks 15th in MLS NEXT Pro, averaging 1.7 goals per game. Their defense, which allows 1.6 goals per game, is among the top seven in the league though.
