Austin FC II is home at Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center for the second consecutive week this Friday night, where the Verde & Black will host Portland Timbers 2. The match is set for an 8:00 p.m. CT kickoff and will stream live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Austin FC II Outlook
ATXFC II earned a 1-1 draw against Rapids 2 last time out, with CJ Fodrey netting his second MLS NEXT Pro goal of the season. Fodrey’s left-footed finish in the first half polished off a lovely team move that saw Micah Burton and Rubén Bonachera also involved.
The Verde & Black fared well against Portland in both matches between the teams last year, winning twice without conceding a goal. The 4-0 victory back on June 18, 2023 is tied for the largest in ATXFC II history. Sébastien Pineau scored twice, and Sal Mazzaferro added another that day.
Portland Timbers 2 Outlook
Portland currently sits in eighth place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference with 16 points from 12 matches. The team has yet to pick up a win away from home though, with three draws and two losses – though Timbers 2 did defeat Vancouver Whitecaps 2 in a road penalty shootout on March 30.
Kyle Linhares has been the top performer in attack with three goals and four assists. Defender Sawyer Jura has also had a strong season. Portland has scored in each of its last five matches, a streak the Verde & Black will hope to put an end to.
