Match Preview Presented by Lexus: Austin FC II vs. Real Monarchs | July 5, 2024

Match Preview 16x9 Home 20

On Fourth of July weekend, Austin FC II will make its return to Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center to host Real Monarchs. The match is set for an 8 p.m. CT kickoff and will stream live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

Austin FC II Outlook

ATXFC II earned its fourth consecutive draw last Sunday, finding a late equalizer on the road for the second match in a row in a 2-2 draw with Sporting KC II. Both of the team’s goals were own goals – one forced by Jimmy Farkarlun and the other by Cheick Touré.

At the exact midway point of the team’s 2024 season, Austin sits in 10th place in the Western Conference, just five points away from the playoff line. Friday night’s match against Real Monarchs is the team’s only home game in July before playing three games at Parmer Field in August, making it even more important that ATXFC II picks up three points.

Real Monarchs Outlook

The Monarchs are just below Austin in the table, in 11th place on 14 points. The team has lost both of its last two matches and each of its five matches outside Utah this season. After Real Monarchs inflicted a heavy defeat on the Verde & Black in early June though, ATXFC II will surely not overlook their opposition and will view Friday as an opportunity to gain revenge for that match.

Matthew Bell and Benjamin Redzic are leading the way up front with three goals each. Bell also has two assists to his name while Noel Caliskan has been Monarchs’ top creator with seven assists.
