Austin FC II returns home to Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center this Friday night for a matchup against Ventura County FC. The match is set to kickoff at 8:00 p.m. CT and will also feature a live broadcast on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Austin FC II Outlook
ATXFC II picked up a point in its most recent outing, an away match vs. The Town FC in which the Verde & Black were the better team for most of the match. Despite that, the match ended as a 0-0 draw, and TTFC claimed the extra point on offer by winning the ensuing penalty kick shootout.
As in the team’s title-winning season in 2023, its defense has been a strong point, allowing only one goal over the last three matches. The center back pairing of Antonio Gomez and Sal Mazzaferro have done well to limit opposition scoring opportunities, along with defensive midfielder and captain Alonso Ramírez in front of them.
At the other end of the field, Micah Burton and Jimmy Farkarlun continue to be goal dangerous. The team will look to turn chances into goals to get back to winning ways vs. Ventura County.
Ventura County FC
Ventura County FC, formerly LA Galaxy II, are off to a hot start in 2024. The team leads the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference with 14 points and a record of 4-1-1. Gino Vivi is pacing the offense with four goals, while Jonathan Perez has contributed five assists. Aaron Bibout has chipped in with two in each category.
The team’s matches have been high scoring. Both teams have found the net in all six of VCFC’s games so far, and VCFC has scored multiple goals in five of those six.
Friday night’s meeting with ATXFC II is likely to feature plenty of chances as well. Both teams will be focused on being clinical in front of goal to maximize their opportunity of claiming three points.
