Austin FC II will play the second of two consecutive Thursday night away matches this week as the Verde & Black travel north to face Minnesota United FC 2. The match will kick off at 6:00 p.m. CT at National Sports Center Stadium and will be available to watch on MLSNEXTPro.com.
Austin FC II Outlook
After a string of four consecutive draws in June, ATXFC II began July with a 2-0 victory and a 2-0 defeat, the latter of which came last week at the hands of Houston Dynamo 2.
Both meetings between Austin and Minnesota last season ended in draws after 90 minutes. Austin claimed the extra point at home with a penalty shootout win, and Minnesota did likewise in the reverse fixture.
ATXFC II will need big performances in all areas of the pitch to boost their chances of bringing three points back from The North Star State.
Minnesota United FC 2 Outlook
Minnesota United FC 2 currently sit in last place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference having lost their last six matches in a row. The team’s 37 goals conceded are tied for the most in the league.
Patrick Weah is Minnesota’s most potent attacker with eight goals to his name. Carlos Harvey has also been a strong contributor, chipping in three goals and an assist.
An Austin win could see the Verde & Black climb to as close as three points from the playoff line as the stretch run approaches.
