Austin FC II is on the road for a second consecutive matchday this Sunday, when the Verde & Black head north to face Minnesota United FC 2. The match is set for a 2:00 p.m. CT kickoff and is available to watch on MLSNEXTPro.com.
Austin FC II Outlook
Austin stumbled against St. Louis City 2 last time out, falling to a narrow 3-2 defeat against the second-place team in the West. But the overall trend line for the Verde & Black is still pointed firmly in the right direction with three wins from their last four games.
All is still to play for, as ATXFC II is currently one point outside the playoff positions with every team in the conference having five matches left on its schedule. Austin will take confidence from their 2-1 win over Minnesota on home turf last week.
Left back Rubén Bonachera continues to impress, picking up his fifth assist of the season in the match against St. Louis. Diego Abarca and Micah Burton provided the goals, with CJ Fodrey adding another assist to his recent string of goal contributions as well.
MNUFC2 Outlook
Minnesota currently sits bottom of the MLSNP Western Conference with 21 points from 23 games. They picked up two points against Real Monarchs to end a run of four consecutive losses.
Anthony Markanich and first teamer Zarek Valentin scored Minnesota’s goals in that match. Rory O’Driscoll has been a consistent contributor for the Loons’ second team with four goals to his name this season.
Minnesota’s defense has allowed a league-worst 2.6 goals per match, a weakness the Verde & Black will need to exploit if they hope to take home points.
