Austin FC II suffered their first loss of the MLS NEXT Pro season to Colorado Rapids 2 by a scoreline of 1-0.
ATXFC II had the first two big chances of the match. In the 23rd-minute, CJ Fodrey delivered a deep ball to David Rodríguez inside the box who took a touch to get open but pushed the ball just wide of the post. After a turnover by Rapids 2, Rodríguez fed the ball in to Fodrey who put his shot on frame but was saved by the keeper. Both teams finished the first half with three shots, with the Verde & Black seeing the only shot on target.
The only goal of the game was scored by Rapids 2 in the 51st-minute. Goalkeeper Damian Las made a remarkable diving save in the 66th-minute to prevent Rapids 2 from scoring a second goal and doubling their lead. ATXFC II earned six kicks from the corner and three shots in the second half but couldn’t connect for an equalizer.
