The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Asociación (FMF) announced that Austin FC Academy midfielder Viggo Ortiz has been called up to the U-15 Mexican Men’s Youth National Team. Ortiz is currently taking part in the program’s training camp at FMF High Performance Center from September 24-27.
The training camp is part of the preparation to participate in the Football Federations Cup in Albir, Spain in December. The participating teams are Mexico, Spain, and Saudi Arabia.
Ortiz previously joined the FMF U-15 Mexican MYNT for the program’s training camp in Mexico City from July 16-31. The 15-year-old has made eight (8) appearances for the FMF U-15 and has scored one (1) goal. Ortiz most recently competed with the team in the Dominican Republic for the Concacaf Boys’ U-15 Championship in August.
Ortiz was named U-15 MVP of the 2023 Generation adidas Cup and was a member of the Austin FC U-15 team that won the tournament.
