Austin FC announced today the Club reached an agreement with KV Kortrijk of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League to acquire defender Aleksandar Radovanović on loan. Radovanović joins the Verde & Black through June 30, 2023, in a deal which includes a transfer option.
“I’m excited to join Austin FC and eager to help the team however I can,” said Radovanović. “The Club has an incredible fanbase and I can’t wait to play at Q2 Stadium for the first time.”
Radovanović, a 29-year-old defender who plays primarily as a center back, holds Serbian citizenship and began his career with his hometown club Mačva Šabac in 2010. From 2015 to 2018, he had stints at Serbian SuperLiga clubs OFK Beograd, Spartak Subotica, and Vojvodina, scoring six (6) goals across 70 total appearances in the league.
In 2018, Radovanović joined French side RC Lens, then competing in Ligue 2. He made 37 total appearances for Lens between 2018 and 2021, scoring two (2) goals and helping the team earn promotion to Ligue 1 in 2020. He joined Kortrijk in 2021 and has since made 48 appearances for the Belgian topflight club, recording two (2) assists.
“Aleksandar is an experienced, left-footed center back who will bring quality and depth to the team’s defensive options,” said Austin FC Interim Sporting Director Sean Rubio. “We look forward to welcoming him to the Club and to the city.”
