Last Thursday, Austin FC staff – including President Andy Loughnane – planted 23 trees at a Foundation Communities site along with help from the Club’s founding partners Q2, St. David’s Healthcare, YETI, Netspend, PointsBet, and Diageo.
“One of our key pillars as a Club is to promote vibrancy through sustainability, and events such as these help to underline our commitment to that goal,” said Austin FC President Andy Loughnane.
The event celebrated both the start of the 2023 season for Austin FC and local nonprofit TreeFolks as the Club’s Chevron Corner Kicks for Community partner. For every Austin FC corner kick during a home match in 2023, Austin FC and Chevron will donate $100 in support of TreeFolks’ mission to empower Central Texans to build stronger communities through planting and caring for trees.
Last year, Austin FC donated $3.5 million to Foundation Communities to help fund the development of affordable housing units in Austin. The trees planted last Thursday at a Foundation Communities site will increase the canopy for an affordable housing complex, providing shade and green space for future residents.
