Austin FC goalkeeper Brad Stuver was named to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Matchday for his performance in Austin’s 3-0 home victory over D.C. United on Wednesday night at Q2 Stadium, with Club captain Sebastián Driussi named to the Team of the Matchday bench. Stuver earns his fifth Team of the Matchday selection of the 2023 season, while Driussi earns his second.
Stuver made eight saves to help Austin keep its sixth MLS clean sheet of the year, including denying D.C. striker Christian Benteke from close range on either side of halftime. He now leads the league in saves with 122, and has made a total of 358 saves in 96 MLS regular season matches for Austin.
Driussi assisted Will Bruin for the Verde & Black’s opening goal in the 11th minute, and scored the team’s second himself with a tidy finish into the corner from six yards out. He leads all Austin FC players with 13 goals across all competitions, and has five goal contributions in his last six league games at Q2 Stadium.
