Major League Soccer announced on Tuesday that Austin FC Academy defender Gavin Wolff was selected to compete in the 2024 MLS NEXT All-Star Game presented by Allstate, taking place on Tuesday, July 23 at 10:30 a.m. CT in Columbus, Ohio. Wolff will compete with the MLS NEXT Western Conference All-Stars against a team of MLS NEXT Eastern Conference All-Stars.
Wolff, 15, has competed with both the Austin FC U-17 team and Austin FC II this season, making his professional debut in an MLS NEXT Pro match on June 2, 2024. In 2023, Wolff played a key role in the Austin FC U-15 team winning the Generation adidas Cup. He anchored a defense which allowed only two (2) goals in seven (7) matches and was named to the Generation adidas Cup Best XI for his performances throughout the tournament.
At the international level, Wolff has made two (2) previous appearances for the U.S. U-15 Men’s National Team.
Wolff and the 43 other players selected to play in the MLS NEXT All-Star Game were chosen by MLS NEXT personnel following the conclusion of the 2024 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs and Showcase. To be eligible for selection, players must have been born between 2007-2009, have competed in the MLS NEXT regular season, and played in at least one of the MLS NEXT premier events this season – MLS NEXT Fest, MLS NEXT Flex, Generation adidas Cup, or the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs and Showcase.
